A SPECTACULAR GROUP OF THREE FASCINATING COLLECTIONS arranged for exhibition on over 220 carefully researched pages, nicely displayed and written-up in English. The collector amassed this material over 50 years with much being obtained directly from Russia, the collections include mint and used stamps, some postal history / postal stationery & post cards selected for postal markings, also some ephemera (incl bank notes) and photographs to further enhance the story of the postal system. The collections run from 1858 with the early Imperial Eagle stamps standardizing when postal services were amalgamated in 1889, the development of the posts with the absence of roads and the advent of railways & the change in stamps reflecting political turmoil and the demise of the royal family. The stamps themselves are both mint (often with interesting blocks and other multiples showing printers marginal markings) and used with many stamps selected for cancellation interest, of particular note are the Village Postal Marks which are identified by area and include much scarce material and much from Siberia and other far- flung places.
